Library at your Desktop
Members of the Library are provided with ID cards.
Members shall produce their ID cards whenever they use the library
services.
1. Reference Service:
The Library maintains a separate Reference Section
consisting of Encyclopaedia, Dictionaries, Handbooks, Atlas,
Monographs, Project Reports, and Question Banks. Users may approach
the library staff for information or any assistance in the use of
the library collections and services.
2. Book Lending Service:
Open access facility is available to the users.
Borrowing limits and loan periods vary according to category of
users. Using
web based LMS (Library Management System)
users can
search for Library resources, circulation related details
and also may reserve the book if the book is on issue. The various
categories are as follows:
a. I, II and III B.E.
students 2 books 10 days
b. Final Year B.E. students
3 books 10 days
c. M.E. students
4 books 10 days
d. Full time
Faculty 10 books 1 Semester
e. Faculty (contract basis)
5 books 1 Semester
f. Non-teaching staff
1 book 1 Semester
The Library encourages University toppers of each
branch by giving one additional library card per semester.
3. Online Email Alert Service:
Library provides periodically email alert service to
the users which facilitate access to full-text articles and
abstracts of current topics based on requested Keywords given
by the users.
4. Periodicals:
Library subscribes to a rich collection of nearly 50
national and international print journals and 8 national dailies
which facilitates users to access current information.

Online Resources:
The
Central Library established the Digital Library with an infinite
knowledge of resources made available online to the users. IEL
Online, Springer Link and ASME (American Society of Mechanical
Engineers) resources facilitate to users to access
950,000
IEEE documents from over 12,000 publications, including 241
journals, transactions, magazines, conference proceedings and IEEE
Standards,
517
Springerlink online journals, 22 ASME online journals and also
DELNET databases. Thus, the faculty and students of PCCE have access
to abundant knowledge resources.
6. Photocopying Services:
Library provides Photocopying services to users at
nominal charges.
7. Library Networking:
The Central Library is networked with DELNET and
INDEST-AICTE consortium. Under the membership of DELNET, the users
are allowed to borrow the books under the scheme of ILL (Inter
Library Loan) and also can access other reference sources.
INDEST-AICTE consortium facilitates the users to access 758
full-text international online journals of all subjects relative to
the programmes offered by PCCE.
8. Library Computerisation:
The Library comprises of 9 computers which are
interlinked with campus network to share its databases, resources
and services, using LMS (Library Management System) and DSpace
digital library software. This enables the students and faculty to
easily access the Library resources and services.
9. Book-Bank Books:
Library maintains separate collection of book-bank
books for OBC, SC/ST students with financial support from Government
of Goa. Students can borrow 4 books for the period of an entire
semester.
10. Current Contents:
Under
this service, the faculty and students can access the 28 latest
journals contents, as recommended by the Heads of their respective
departments. The Current Contents will be updated regularly and
displayed in the periodicals section.
11. Library at your Desktop:
Recently the Central Library has started a novel and
innovative service called “Library at your Desktop”. Under this, the
faculty and students have the provision of requesting full text
articles/journals of a particular topic/subject, by sending an
e-mail to
arun@pccegoa.org, and the request will be duly attended to.
