TEACHERS DAY AT PCCE 2017

PCCE celebrated Teachers Day on the 5th of September 2017 where students welcomed the teachers with bookmarks. Rev. Fr. Victor Rebello, Local Delegate Superior Agnel Technical Educational Complex, Dr. Mahesh Parrappagoudar Principal and staff members were present for the function. Rev. Fr. Seby Rodrigues, Assistant Director, conveyed his best wishes.

The students of PCCE organized a program for all the staff members on this special day to show their appreciation. It commenced with the giving of beautiful cards which the students made themselves made, followed by the cutting of the cake. The students also put together a beautiful video showcasing the various talents of the teachers here at PCCE. They organized various cultural programs and games for the teachers. The teachers of PCCE also showcased an act. The event was followed by fellowship.

The event was co-ordinated by Ms. Alzira Xavier, faculty in-charge, Mr. Amey Wadekar, IT department, Ms. Shona Afonso, Computer department, Ms. Jillian Cotta, ETC department and Mr. Marvin Fernandes, Mechanical department.

ANNUAL DAY AT PCCE

The Annual Day of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering was held on the 28th of April 2017 to felicitate our students for their wondrous achievements and to encourage them to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals.

The Chief Guest for this function was Mr. Swapnil Naik, Collector and District Magistrate, South Goa and the Guest of Honor, was Mr. Atrinjay Kossambe, Operations Manager, Rosenberger Electronic Pvt. Ltd. Goa.

The event was attended by Rev. Fr. Victor Rebello, Director of Agnel Technical Education Complex, Rev. Fr. Seby Rodrigues Assistant Director of Agnel Technical Education Complex, Principal Dr. Luis Mesquita, invitees and awardees, Heads of the Departments, faculty and students.

This event included felicitating the university toppers as well as sports achievers.

The felicitation ceremony was followed by a musical performance by faculty and students.

Dr. K. R. Pai, Head of Department of Electronics and Telecommunications, proposed the vote of thanks.

The comperes for the event were assistant professors, Ms. Aditi Silveira and Mr. Vaibhav Vernekar.

The event was coordinated by Cultural in charge Ms. Alzira Xavier.

MITHYA 2017

PCCE’s annual cultural event Mithya 2017 was held from 29th March to 1st of April 2017. Mithya 2017 was declared open by the chief guest Ms. Siddhi Mapxencar, high end fashion designer, Mapxencars in the presence of Rev. Fr Victor Rebello, Director of Agnel Technical Education Complex, Assistant Director Rev. Fr Seby Rodrigues and Principal Dr Luis Mesquita. Also present at the function were heads of departments, staff and students. Mithya 2017 had very exciting events which were introduced for the first time.

The trading event named the Wolf of Dalal Street was powered by DSIJ - Dalal Street Journal India's #1 equity research and capital investment Magazine. This was a stock market trading event where the students traded live for a period of three days. The results were declared at the end of day 3. There was also a marketing video challenge, which was powered by Kunde Suzuki.

There were interesting events for staff as well. Beginning with the event” CHOPPED”— a cooking event where culinary skills were put to test. Also, there was a cake décor competition and antakshari competition where the staff teamed up with students. The events were judged by professionals in their respective field. All departments competed with each other to win this year’s crown of champions, but it was the ETC department who conquered it all on the final day. Mechanical, Computer and Information Technology, won the second, third and fourth places respectively.

The events were co-ordinated by the following faculty members - Mr. Amey Wadekar, IT department, Ms. Shona Afonso, computer department, Ms. Jillian Cotta, ETC department and Mr. Marvin Fernandes, mechanical department. The overall faculty co-coordinator for MITHIYA 2017 was Ms. Alzira Xavier.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS AT PCCE

The teaching and non-teaching staff at PCCE ushered in the Christmas festival with fun and fervor on the 23rd of December 2016 at the auditorium that was festooned with the vibrant colors of Christmas. The Christmas party started with Fr. Victor Rebello, Director, ATEC addressing the gathering.

This was followed by the enactment of the Christmas story and understanding the true meaning and spirit of Christmas. The function also included enlivening games which was followed by a melodious singing of Christmas carols. Fr. Victor Rebello, Director, ATEC and Dr. Luis Mesquita, Principal chipped in with their wholesome participation. There were also spot prizes that helped serve as ice-breakers.

The Christmas party served as a bonding platform that brought people from a gamut of sensibilities together and ushered in the Joy befitting the Christmas season. Ms. Alzira Xavier, Cultural In-charge, proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Shona Afonso, Assistant Professor was the compere for the function.

ENGINEERS DAY Celebrations

Engineers Day celebrations were held at PCCE on the 15th of September the birth anniversary of the Indian engineer Sir MokshagundamVisvesvaraya. There were sessions that were held during the day for the students from all branches as well as the faculty of the college.

Talk for Faculty

A session was organized for the faculty on the topic ‘Connecting with people better’. This session was conducted by Ms.KananTandi, Body Speaks Better. Ms. Kananconducted a very interactive session in which she addressed the audience on different ways of non-verbal communication and spoke about micro-expressions. The event was co-ordinated by the cultural team.

Talk for Final Year Mechanical and ETC engineering students A talk on Automation and cutting edge technologies in packaging was organized for the final year mechanical and ETC students. The talk was delivered byMr. Shashi Kiran R, product head of HFFS, Bosch Ltd. Mr. Sudan Surlakar, HR Manager, Bosch Ltd. also addressed the students with regard to placements and job opportunities. Mr. Niyan Marchon,training and placement officer, proposed the vote of thanks. The talk was co-ordinated by the training and placement office.

Talk for Final Year Mechanical and ETC engineering students

A talk on Automation and cutting edge technologies in packaging was organized for the final year mechanical and ETC students.

Workshop for First year and second year computer and IT engineering students


A two-hour workshop on Introduction to programmingwas organized by Mr. Aldrich Mascarenhas, Mr. NishitSardessai and Mr. AmodShinde from the final year branch of computer engineering, PCCE. The workshop was attend by 90 students from computer and IT branch. The workshop covered the topics on how to get started with programming, the poblems faced, technologies and their scope, writing a clean code and debugging. The event was co-ordinated by the cultural team.

Induction Program

The First Year Induction Program of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering was held on 13th August 2016 at the the Lilia and Raimundo Gracias Auditorium, Agnel Technical Educational Complex. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Gajanan Nagarsekar, CEO Kallows Engineering India, and the Guest of Honor was Mr. Rohit Bhandiye, Senior Support Consultant, Open Destinations Pvt. Ltd. The Principal, Dr. Luis Mesquita and the Heads of the Departments namely, the Head of the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications Dr. K R Pai, Dr. Jagannath Hirkude the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Ms. Anusha Pai the Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, and Head of the Department of Information Technology, Ms. Razia Sardinhaaddressed the students and their parents as to the various aspects of the college and the respective departments. In addition to addresses by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor, Rev. Fr. Victor Rebello, Director, Agnel Technical Educational Complex also addressed the gathering. Dr. Stephen Baretto, Registrar, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering proposed the vote of thanks and the program ended with a cultural program followed by refreshments.

Dr.StephenBarreto, Registrar of PCCE and Head Of Department of Basic Science and Humanities, proposed the vote of thanks. The event was coordinated by Cultural in charge Sufola Das Chagas Silva Araujo.

MITHYA 2016:

PCCE annual cultural event Mithya 2016 was held from 11th to 14th of April 2016. The tag line for this year’s Mithya was CHALLENGE.COMPETE.CONQUER. Mithya2016 was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp in the presence of chief guest Mr. Alex Pacheco, General Manager of Zuari Agro chemicals LTD,Fr Victor Rebello,Director of Agnel Technical Education Complex,Asst to Director FrSeby Rodrigues, Principal Dr Luis Mesquita and Cultural in charge Sufola Das ChagasSilva Araujo.
All departments competed with each other to win this years crown of champions, but it was the Mechanical department who conquered it all on the final day. Electronics and Telecommunication, Computer and Information Technology, won the second, third and fourth place respectively.

‘HAPPENINGS’ 2016: PCCE won the First place inHappenings’an inter-collegiate event held by Goa College of Engineering (GCE) Farmagudi,Ponda.

Installation of the PCCE's Students Council 2015-16:

Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna installed its student’s council for the year 2015-2016 on the 5th of September, 2015.

The students elected for the different posts were Sumiran Dhamaskar(General Secretary), Akshata Naik(Ladies Representative),Rahul Kalgutkar(Cultural Secretary),Anchal Sahani(Sports Secretary),Lincoln Aphonso(University Representative),RajatHalankar (Magazine Secretary).

The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp and the students took an oath for their respective posts in the presence of the Principal Dr. Luis.C.Mesquita and the heads of the departments. ProfessorSufolaChagas Silva e Araujo gave the vote of thanks.

‘TATASTU’2014

Tatastu’- an inter collegiate cultural event organized by Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science , Margao was scheduled in February.

This event attracts a large section of the student community.

PCCE participated in ‘Tatastu’ and won the Second place overall

PCCE Parents Counselling: A Talk on “Parenting-A Challenge in Today’s Changing Environment” was organised to overcome the challenges of maintaining a bond between the students and their parents.The chief guest and the speaker for was a well-known and recognised psychiatrist Dr Belinda ViegasMuller.The talk was organized by SufolaDasChagas Silva Araujo. Talk on Drugs Abuse: A talk on the “Effects of drug abuse” was organized on 8th July 2015 at Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, for all the students of various departments.

The resource person was Superintendent JeetendraRajan from Narcotics Control Bureau,Sub Zone Goa.It was aimed at building awareness about the various forms of drug abuse and measures that should be taken to avert such situations.The talk was coordinated by Cassandra Fernendes and Sufola Das Chagas Silva Araujo.

The students’ council organized a program for the teachers on this special day to show their appreciation for their beloved teachers, and it included cultural programs and giving cards and flowers to honor them for their special contributions.
