Intercollegiate Tech fest ,TECHYON2016
Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna, hosted TECHYON 2016 – An annual inter-collegiate Tech-Fest on 6th and 7th of October 2016. Techyon included technical events that were held by four departments: AAVISHKAR (ETC department), TURBULENCE (Mechanical department), DotSlash (Computer department) and Mindspark(IT department) Staff and students from each department coordinated events like Robowars, Hackathon (building of software or applications), Hardwired (circuit building), Technical Quiz, Code Crunch, Line-follower, Electronics Art, Debate and many more technical events where students across all branches could participate.
The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Dr. Pandurang Kamat, Chief Architect, Innovation and R&D at Persistent Systems. He delivered the keynote address and shared his view points on Innovation and digital transformation. Fr. Victor Rebello, Director, Agnel Technical Education Complex addressed the gathering and encouraged the students to work on the technical ideas and also motivated them to implement the same. Fr. Seby Rodrigues, Assistant Director, encouraged the students to participate in the events in true sportsmanship. Dr. Luis C. Mesquita, Principal, PCCE welcomed the gathering and requested the students to make the most of this opportunity. Dr. Stephen Barretto, Registrar and Head of Basci Sciences and Humanities department introduced the chief guest.
Dr. Pandurang Kamat declared the event open and wished the students the best of luck. A short film on the event was featured during the inaugural ceremony.
The event Hackathon (building of software or applications) was powered by Persistent System Limited, Verna-Goa and Electronics Art was co-ordinated by BrushFlicks, Goa. Ms. Farheen Sayed, Founder and CEO, Brushflicks is an ex-student of PCCE. The event Hackathon was a 24 hour event where 28 teams comprising of three members each participated from colleges across Goa.
TECHYON 2016 saw participation from engineering students all across Goa and was a grand success.
The events were co-ordinated by the following faculty members Mr. Amey Wadekar, IT department, Ms. Shona Afonso, computer department, Ms. Dhanusha Prabhu, ETC department and Mr. Dattaprakash Vernekar, mechanical department.
The overall faculty co-coordinator for TECHYON 2016 was Ms. Alzira Xavier.
