Engineers Day celebrations were held at PCCE on the 15th of September the birth anniversary of the Indian engineer Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. There were three sessions that were held during the day for the students and faculty of the college.
a) Faculty development program
A session was organized for the faculty on the topic "Connecting with people better". This session was conducted by Ms. Kanan Tandi, Body Speaks Better. Ms. Kanan has delivered three TEDx talks and is the only trainer in Micro Expressions in India from Centre for Body Language. Ms. Kanan conducted a very interactive session in which she addressed the audience on different ways of non-verbal communication and spoke about micro-expressions. The event was co-ordinated by the cultural team.
b) Workshop for First year and second year computer and IT engineering students
A two-hour workshop on Introduction to programming was organized by Mr. Aldrich Mascarenhas, Mr. Nishit Sardessai and Mr. Amod Shinde from the final year branch of computer engineering. The workshop was attend by 90 students from computer and IT branch. The workshop covered the topics on how to get started with programming, the problems faced, technologies and their scope, writing a clean code and debugging. The event was co-ordinated by Ms. Alzira Xavier, faculty in-charge.
c) Talk for Final Year Mechanical and ETC engineering students
A talk on "Automation and cutting edge technologies in packaging"was organized for the final year Mechanical and ETC students. The talk was delivered by Mr. Shashi Kiran R, product head of HFFS, Bosch Ltd. Mr. Sudan Surlakar, HR Manager, Bosch Ltd. also addressed the students with regard to placements and job opportunities. Mr. Niyan Marchon, training and placement officer, proposed the vote of thanks.
