Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna, hosted TECHYON 2017 in association with Numadic on the 13th and 14th of October 2017. TECHYON 2017 is an annual inter-collegiate technical festival which included technical events that were held by four departments: AAVISHKAR (ETC department), TURBULENCE (Mechanical department), DotSlash (Computer department) and Mindspark (IT department)
Staff and students from each department coordinated events like Robowars, Hackathon (building of software or applications), Hardwired (circuit building), Technical Quiz, Code Crunch, Line-follower, Electronics Art, Debate and many more technical events where students across all branches could participate.
The Chief Guest for the inaugural ceremony was Mr. Kishore Kumar (Chief Executive Officer, Vedanta Limited, Sesa Iron Ore Business). Distinguished guests Ms. Jaspreet Walia (HR Manager, Infosys - Bangalore) and Ms. Elvina Halli (Communications Lead, Numadic) were also present. Mr. Kishore Kumar addressed the gathering of staff and students and spoke about application of technology in different fields. Ms. Jaspreet Walia emphasized on the need for the students to participate in such technical events and hence widen their knowledge. Ms. Elvina Halli gave a presentation on the skills required by engineering students. Fr. Victor Rebello, Director, Agnel Technical Education Complex, Dr. Mahesh Parappagoudar, Principal, PCCE welcomed the gathering and requested the students to make the most of this opportunity.
Mr. Kishore Kumar declared the event open and wished the students the best of luck. A short film on the event was featured during the inaugural ceremony.
The event Hackathon (building of software or applications) hosted by computer department was powered by Numadic, Panjim and CIBA, Verna. The event Ideate, hosted by computer and IT departments was powered by CIBA. Weave the Web, hosted by the IT department, was powered by Umang Software Technologies, Margao, Robosumo, hosted by the Mechanical department was powered by Glazetek Systems, Margao and Electronics Art, hosted by the ETC department was powered by BrushFlicks, Goa. During the inaugural ceremony a short film was featured on each of these companies.
TECHYON 2017 saw participation from engineering students all across Goa and was a grand success.
The events were co-ordinated by the following faculty members Mr. Amey Wadekar, IT department, Ms. Shona Afonso, computer department, Ms. Jillian Cotta, ETC department and Mr. Marvin Fernandes, Mechanical department.
