💫Team Phoenix wins Robowars at National Level

Team Phoenix is a group of engineering undergraduates from Goa, who are deeply interested and actively involved in the field of robotics and is currently the most dominating team in the field of Combat robotics in Goa. The team recently participated at the National Level Technical Event "ROBOWARS" organized by Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) under their annual Technical festival "SHAASTRA 17" and secured the first position amongst 50 combat robot teams all over India.

ROBOWARS is a battle between two custom built machines having specific dimensions and weight played inside a well-protected and a confined arena. The winner is decided by the judges whose judging criteria is well specified by a defined set of rules declared by the hosts. The Event was scheduled from 1st January till 3rd January 2017. This was the Team's maiden outside Goa competition. The Team led by Anshul Mahale (PCCE Verna) set off from Goa on 30th December along with Devendra Bhat (GEC, Farmagudi) , Shubham Gaonkar(GEC, Farmagudi), Harsh Chotaliya (RIT, Shiroda) and Shubham Shet (PCCE, Verna) reaching Chennai on 31st along with the team's well modified war machine for the event "SUAREZ" in a disassembled state. On reaching a day before the Mega event at the venue, the team assembled the war robot and kept it battle ready. The event started on the first day of the New Year and the Team's war robot Suarez made a start of the year with a striking victory in the first round dominating the opponent's robot throughout the 3 minutes of game time and entered the 2nd round which held the same day in the evening. The 2nd round battle was the most awaited battle of the day as Suarez faced the last years Runners up and a very dominating team in the field from Pune (team EDM). In the beginning Suarez suffered some blows from the opponents but it managed to come back in the battle with a bang and eventually destroyed the other making the crowd stand up and cheer for the Team and the first day's competition ended.

On the 2nd day the team successfully cleared round 3 which was the Quarter finals. It was the fastest finish of Suarez and also of the competition as it thrashed the opponent's robot forcing them quit the battle in just 10 seconds of the start of the battle thus entering the Semifinals. The semifinals were scheduled on 3rd and Suarez faced one of the toughest teams of the event, but the beast managed to dominate their war robot throughout the game time hitting it hard and breaking the setups one by one till the battle ended and entered in the Finals. Suarez had become the attraction of the event and the most favourite robot in the crowd. The finals were held the same day and Suarez once again put up a great show in front of the hall and triumphed in the end. The event ended with Suarez walking victorious.

The team received appreciation from the audience, the organizers and all the well wishers. This event was the team's debut National level event outside Goa and achieving the topmost position was a herculean task and accomplishing it raised the team's confidence significantly. The team members showed great amount of commitment, dedication and fortitude while battling inside the arena as well as repairing the battle wounds of their own and preparing the robot for next battle. Apart from the Robowars Team Phoenix was also represented in the event "Maze Solver Robot" under Programmable robot by Team's newly joined and youngest member Mrugank Pednekar (Sharada Mandir, Panjim), who also did a splendid job with his robot astounding the organisers and the other participants with his 4th fastest moving robot amongst the other competitors all over the country. Team thanked their family, friends, well wishers, sponsors and the respective technical institutions for their constant help which also has lions share in the Team's success.

PCCE team wins first place at national robotics championship 2014-15 at IIT Mumbai
Second year electronics students of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering, Verna, have brought laurels to the college and the State by winning the National Robotics Championship held on April 4 and April 5 at the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai. The team named 'Pacers' comprised of Ajay Shanbhag, Aman Prabhu Kholkar, Saish Sawant, Gaurav Gadekar and Avtar Chodankar. The event comprised of three stages.
There were four hundred and twenty six teams participating in the event out of which forty teams qualified for the finale. The competition started with the quarter final round that saw the 'Pacers' qualify with ease. The semifinal round was a tough fight, though the 'Pacers' team stood undefeated. Team Pacers put in all their efforts and won the final round emerging victorious over other teams.
The track was completed by the team in 1:35 mintues whereas the team that won second place completed the track in 2:10 min. ARK Techno solutions manger, Ritesh Shah and his team coordinated for the success of the competition. The team was awarded a gold trophy and a cash prize of Rs 21000 along with gold medals and electronic gadgets for each member of the group.
The team said: "There was a lot of hard work put in by each member of the team which led us to victory."

Team Turbo Pacers, consisting of 25 students from the Mechanical Engineering Department, have designed and constructed a Go-Kart. They have participated in two national competitions. The Go Kart Design Challenge, organized by Indian Society of New Era Engineers was held at Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore. In the final round held in February 2016, 105 teams were selected. Team Turbo Pacers was recognised for their aesthetics, innovation and design report. Their innovations of Brake biasing, Hand Braking, Adjustable Detachable Steering and Custom Steering Gearbox were particularly appreciated. The International Series of Karting was organized by Mean Metal Motors, at Lahari Resort Hyderabad, in March 2016. Team Turbo Pacers secured the 14th place out of 51 teams that made it to the final round.
The team primarily comprised of SE Mechanical students. The team was led by Mr. Daniel Menezes of BE Mechanical, with Mr. Dikshay Golatkar as vice-captain. Mr. Avinash Mandora was the designer; Mr. Kaushik Naik Parvatkar was the Fabrication in-charge and Mr. Elyfer Correia as electricals in-charge. Mr. Daniel Fernandes was the team manager and Mr. Mayur Aigal as the finance manager. The Go Kart was fabricated at a workshop in Sancoale. The first month of fabrication was the toughest as the team was low on funds; they hadn't received any sponsors as yet. The team faced many hardships and hurdles along the way but they did not give up the quest. After tireless work for two months after college hours they achieved their goal. Through tough times and hurdles they have gained valuable experience to do what it takes to overcome problems and achieve their goal. The team thanks the college for permitting them to participate in the competitions and the support. They are also grateful to their seniors for initiating the idea and helping them to get started. These experience given them an exposure to real-life engineering and management problems and have awakened in them the true passion for engineering from within.
They are grateful to their main sponsor's Syngenta and Directorate of Science and Technology, Government of Goa. They are also thankful to the college for valuable financial contribution which helped them start the effort.
