PCCE ACM Student Chapter

Workshop on Firebase

The Departments of Computer Engineering and Information Technology, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering organized a workshop on Firebase under PCCE ACM Student Chapter activities on 16th October 2017. A total of 36 student chapter members attended this event. Mr. Aldrich Mascarenhas, an alumnus of P.C.C.E. was the resource person for the workshop. He conducted a hands-on training session on Firebase. He demonstrated how Firebase can be added to an Android App.




Workshop on Android Programming

The Departments of Computer Engineering and Information Technology, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering organized a workshop on Android Programming under PCCE ACM Student Chapter activities on 15th September 2017 to mark the celebration of Engineer’s Day. A total of 37student chapter members attended this event. Mr. Aldrich Mascarenhas, an alumnus of P.C.C.E. was the resource person for the workshop. He conducted a hands-on training session on Android Programming App Development.



PCCE ACM Student Chapter Inauguration Ceremony
2017-2018

The Departments of Information Technology and Computer Engineering, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering inaugurated the second edition of PCCE ACM Student Chapter on 12th September 2017. A total of 43 students registered as members for the academic year 2017-2018. The chapter was inaugurated in the presence of the Director Rev. Fr. Victor Rebello, Asst. Director Rev. Fr. Seby Rodrigues, Pricipal Dr. Mahesh Parappagoudar, Chief Guest Mr. Gajanan Nagarsekar, HOD Computer Department Ms. Anusha Pai, HOD Department of Information Technology Ms. Razia Sardinha, faculty and registered ACM student members. The Chief Guest, Mr. Gajanan Nagarsekar an alumnus of P.C.C.E. is the Co-founder and Managing Director of Kallows Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. He addressed the students on the use of technology in the medical field. He spoke about his work in the emerging field of advanced mobile health technology. The council members for the PCCE ACM Student Chapter 2017-2018 are 1) Chair: Mr. Ethan Alberto 2) Vice Chair: Ms. Zarina Caeiro 3) Treasurer: Mr. Biswas Tiwari The faculty coordinators for the chapter are Asst. Professor Shona Afonso and Asst. Professor Malony Alphonso.

SESSION ON SMART FARMING

The Departments of Information Technology and Computer Engineering, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering organized a technical talk as part of PCCE ACM Student Chapter on 8th August 2017. A total of 41 students attended the talk which was held in the college auditorium. The speaker for the session Mr. Ajay Naik, CEO of Letcetra Agritech Private Limited introduced the students to smart farming and explained how hydrophonic farming can be used to grow delicious, nutritious leafy greens and herbs without soil and pesticides. Two students Mr. Veleston Rato and Ms. Sruthi Painku demonstrated their final year project on Smart Farming.

PCCE ACM Student Chapter Event – Workshop on HTML 5

The Departments of Computer Engineering and Information Technology, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering organized a workshop on HTML 5 under PCCE ACM Student Chapter activities on 26th April 2017. A total of 45 student chapter members attended this event. Mr. Neville Menezes was the resource person for the workshop. He started with the basics of HTML and then gave the students a hands-on experience for creating web pages using HTML 5 and CSS. The event was coordinated by Asst. Professor Malony Alphonso and Asst. Professor Sulana Rebelo from the Information Technology and Computer Departments respectively.

PCCE ACM Student Chapter Event

The Departments of Computer Engineering and Information Technology, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering organized an event under PCCE ACM Student Chapter on 10th February 2017. A total of 58 student chapter members attended this event. Mr. Agraj Agranayak, founder Imagine Works, Goa was the first speaker for the event. He shared his experience of his Journey as an Entrepreneur. Mr. Anay Kamat, founder, Present Soft Technologies Pvt. Ltd was the second speaker for the event. He guided the students on the different options they can pursue after completing the engineering degree. The event was coordinated by Asst. Professor Malony Alphonso and Asst. Professor Sulana Rebelo from the Information Technology and Computer Departments respectively.

The Departments of Information Technology and Computer Engineering, Padre Conceicao College of Engineering inaugurated the PCCE ACM Student Chapter on 27th September 2016. A total of 65 students are part of this chapter. Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), the world's largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier digital library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources. The distinguished guests for the evening were Dr. J.A. Laxminarayana, Professor & HOD Computer Department at Goa College of Engineering, Dr. V.V. Kamat, Professor & HOD, Computer Science & Technology at Goa University and Mrs. Maria Choudhary, Council Member of ACM India and Principal Engineer at Oracle India Pvt. Ltd. Fr. Seby Rodrigues, Asst. Director Agnel Technical Education Complex, Dr. Luis C. Mesquita, Principal, Mrs. Anusha Pai, HOD Computer Department, Mrs. Razia Sardinha, HOD Department of Information Technology, faculty of the Computer & Information Technology Department and registered ACM student members were present for the occasion. Dr. J.A. Laxminarayana enlightened the students about “Artificial Intelligence” and also spoke of the current trends in the field. Dr. V.V. Kamat delivered a session on “Teaching for Better Learning”. Mrs. Choudhary introduced the students to the benefits of being an ACM member and also inducted the student council.
